SolPlaces is a modern D2C furniture brand dedicated to making high-quality, multifunctional furniture accessible through a direct online sales model. With their flagship product, the Sunset Sofa Bed, the company set out to disrupt the home furniture space by offering a versatile, ergonomic, and stylish piece designed for contemporary living, sold exclusively through a custom-built digital storefront. The brand required a shopping experience that was aesthetically minimal, conversion-focused, and intuitive enough to guide a customer from first discovery through to completed purchase without friction. The store needed to handle dynamic product variants, support guest checkout, enable order tracking without login, and integrate seamlessly with third-party tools for email marketing, reviews, and navigation. Problem
SolPlaces had a strong product and a clear brand vision, but no digital presence to support it. The client needed a complete eCommerce website built from scratch, one that could present a single hero product compellingly without feeling sparse or underdeveloped, while simultaneously managing multiple fabric types, color options, and size variants through a clean, uncluttered interface. Achieving a consistent, premium aesthetic across all devices, particularly on mobile where multimedia banners and dynamic sections are difficult to render faithfully, posed a significant UX challenge. Guest checkout was a non-negotiable client requirement: users needed to be able to browse, configure, and purchase without creating an account, while still having access to order tracking post-purchase. Third-party tools for email marketing, product reviews, and navigation all needed to integrate without compromising theme performance or visual consistency. The core challenge was to build a fully custom, premium-feeling single-product storefront from the ground up, with a checkout experience smooth enough to convert a first-time visitor into a confirmed buyer.

Custom Shopify Theme Development
The entire Shopify storefront was built from scratch using a fully custom theme developed directly from Sol Places’ Figma designs, with no pre-built template as a starting point. The theme was architected with a modular homepage structure featuring above-the-fold CTAs, product quality highlights, customer testimonials, and brand storytelling sections. A mobile-first development approach was applied throughout, with extensive cross-device testing to ensure that multimedia banners, dynamic sections, and interactive elements rendered with consistent fidelity and performance across all screen sizes.

Product Page and Dynamic Variant Experience
The product detail page was designed to serve as the commercial centrepiece of the store, rich and informative without overwhelming the user. The page supports multiple fabric types and colour variations, with pricing that updates dynamically in real time as customers make their selections, giving complete cost transparency before checkout. High-resolution image galleries, a detailed FAQs section, and integrated product reviews via the Loox app were incorporated to build confidence and address purchase hesitation at the most critical point in the buying journey.

Guest Checkout and Seamless User Journey
Guest checkout was implemented as a first-class feature. Users can browse, configure their product, and complete a purchase without ever creating an account. The checkout flow leverages Shopify’s native infrastructure for shipping, billing, and payment, keeping the experience fast and familiar. For returning visitors, Shopify’s session and device recognition capabilities allow basic details and address information to be surfaced automatically, reducing re-entry friction without requiring a login. Email confirmation flows for account creation were also built for users who choose to register.

Third-Party App Integration
Three key third-party integrations were implemented and styled to sit seamlessly within the custom theme. Klaviyo was configured for email marketing and newsletter automation, enabling Sol Places to build and nurture its customer base from launch. The Mega Menu app was integrated to support a customisable, responsive navigation structure. Loox was set up for product reviews and user-generated content, providing an ongoing stream of social proof directly on the product page. Each integration was customised in appearance and placement to match the theme’s visual language precisely.

Order Tracking and Account Management
A self-service customer dashboard was developed to give registered users full visibility and control over their orders, including tracking purchases, cancelling orders, updating shipping details, and managing their address book and profile. For guest users, order tracking is accessible via order ID and email, ensuring that every customer, regardless of account status, can stay informed on their delivery without needing to contact support.

Admin Panel, CMS Pages and Backend Configuration
Shopify’s admin panel was fully configured to give the Sol Places team independent control over products, orders, customers, and content without developer involvement for routine tasks. CMS-enabled pages including About Us, Contact, Privacy Policy, and Returns and Refunds were created and structured for easy ongoing editing. Role-based admin access, secure password recovery, and a metrics dashboard were all set up to give the team full operational visibility from day one.
